At Northumberland Engineering, we firmly believe that vehicles are to be driven and enjoyed on a regular basis.

Northumberland Engineering began as the US extension of a family owned and operated automobile engineering firm established in the north-east of England in the early 1900s, which is still in operation today.

Following on from many years in the UK vintage motor racing scene, Anthony Dutton started Northumberland Engineering in 1981 engaging in the support and preparation of vintage racing cars and events throughout the US and Canada. Originally based in East Hampton, the firm moved to its larger Southampton premises in 1983, taking on more staff and a larger space to house the firm's growing projects and client base.

Overseas events have continued to serve as a feature of the racing arm of the firm, working with a range of clients. For many years, we worked with Louis Vuitton Malettier in their Annual Classic at Rockefeller Center. As vehicle curator and organizer, our company drew from its depth of historical and technical knowledge of the global classic car industry to collaborate with LV for five years on this marvellous event in the heart of the New York City.

Additionally, we have supported some of our clients in long and short distance racing events, including Louis Vuitton in their 1998 China Run, Equipe Alain de Cadenet for long distance sports car racing at Le Mans, as well as for some of our US private client forays to Monaco, Mille Miglia and Goodwood races.

In day to day operations, our company works with a large client base of both avid, long-time collectors and single vehicle enthusiasts alike, performing vehicle restorations, re-builds, service and maintenance. We have embarked on many exciting projects, such as restoring historical one-of-a-kind vehicles and family legacies, or creating unique custom builds and modifications. We firmly believe that vehicles are to be driven and enjoyed on a regular basis. Our diverse team of engineers and mechanics apply their expertise and dedication to precision engineering to authentically restore and build a vehicle you have confidence in and can treasure for generations to come.

Our CEO, Tony Dutton sits on the Executive Committee for The Bridge's  annual auto event - Bridgeorama. The event brings together nearly 150 post-war sports and racing vehicles on the greens of Bridgehampton's exclusive golf club.
