1974 MGB GT

This 1974 MGB GT is an impressive example of this classic hatchback, powered by a 1.8L 4-cylinder engine with dual SU Carburetors, mated to a four-speed manual transmission (no overdrive). 1974 was the last year the MGB GT was imported to the United States. This vehicle has been stored inside for the past two years, with considerable investment in repairs and restoration.

The current owner has upgraded both the brake system and suspension components. The front brakes have been upgraded to drilled discs and performance brake pads. Both front calipers have been replaced. All flex hoses have been replaced, as well as the rear wheel cylinders. The steel brake lines have undergone a thorough inspection and been repaired/replaced where necessary.

The suspension on this GT has also been upgraded. Rubber bushings have been replaced with polyurethane all around. Front and rear shock absorbers have been replaced with uprated units. Front coil springs and rear leaf springs have been replaced. The front anti-roll bar has been upgraded to a heavy duty unit. Wishbones and trunnion components have been inspected for damage. Front wheel bearings have been inspected and repacked.
​The original distributor has been converted to a high-energy electronic Pertronix system, with a matching ignition coil and new ignition wire set. All fluids have been replaced. Coolant system has been flushed and renewed with fresh coolant. All hydraulics have been flushed and renewed.
All door seals have been replaced, including rear hatch seals. Poorly fitting doors have been adjusted. Additions include a new Moto Lita steering wheel and Halide fire extinguisher.
Paint and body panels are all in good condition. All electronics have been tested. This MGB GT has minimal rust on its underbody. Underbody has been sprayed in underbody coating. Existing underbody coating was found to be peeling/missing. Any surface rust on chassis was treated with rust inhibitor and sealed with protective enamel paint.
Windscreen wiper motor has been replaced and cable drive/wiper boxes have been lubricated.
